Check out these 12 easy, quick cleaning tips for a clean home (even when you are feeling unmotivated to clean).

Before continuing on, let me explain a little know fact about me. When I was fourteen years old, I would spend time on my weekend willingly and happily cleaning my room. Heck, I even had fun. However, over time I have started to dread my everyday cleaning tasks. However, I am working on reinvigorating my love of cleaning. Here are my quick cleaning tips that help inspire me to clean, even when feeling unmotivated to clean.
Quick Cleaning Tips
1. Focus on overall look of room:
When wanting to quickly clean, it’s important to focus on the general appearance of the space rather than getting bogged down with the small details. This really helps if you are feeling unmotivated to clean. The quicker and easier a task is, you are more willing to complete the task.
2. Start at the top:
It is always best to start at the top of the room and work your way down. Wipe off the mirrors and surfaces, then you can finish off with the floors. This way everything you have cleaned from up high, ends up on the floor.

3: Work in a circular direction:
While cleaning quickly it is also important to work in a circular direction. Pick a spot and continue all the way around the room until you end back where you started. This way you don’t have to waste time going back and forth across the room. Start in one spot and work circularly around your room.
4. Empty the trash:
After cleaning the floors, empty the trash from the space. It is awesome to see how much better a space smells and looks after the trash has been emptied.
5. Use a timer:
There is nothing quite like needing to beat the time on a timer that helps propel you onward to quickly clean your space. Set a timer for fifteen minutes and see how much you can clean in a short amount of time.

If you are anything like me, I become easily distracted with tasks other than cleaning while I’m cleaning. Oftentimes, I come across items that don’t belong in the space. So I think, “Oh I will quickly place this item in the correct place then come back and continue to clean.” However, if I leave the space, I usually become distracted on my way back to the space, I forget what I was working on. This is why I recommend using a timer. It keeps you focused on the task at hand.
6. Store supplies in one area:
Keep all of your cleaning supplies in one location in your home. If your cleaning supplies are close by, you will be able to be even faster with your cleaning routine. Better yet, keep your cleaning supplies in a cleaning caddy, so you can easily move your supplies from space to space without becoming distracted along the way.
For me, the cleaning supplies are stored in a small closet in our hallway. I know that everything I need to clean is in that one spot. So when it comes time for cleaning the process is already easy to start.
7. Bring an empty basket with you:
When you come across items that don’t belong in the space, place them in an empty laundry basket. Then when you have completed your cleaning task, you can go around the house placing items back where they belong.
8. Reduce Physical Clutter:
The less stuff you have in your space, then the easier it is to quickly clean your space. Periodically, set a 5-minute declutter timer and go through your rooms and declutter extra clutter that you no longer need in your space. It helps if you have a donation box or bag close by so you can quickly and easily declutter your space.
9. What needs to be cleaned?
When quickly cleaning, look around your space and pick 5-7 areas that need to be taken care of first. Then see if you have more time to tackle the other areas of your home.
10. Create a cleaning routine:
Figure out a cleaning routine that works for you. I have tried all different cleaning routines over the years. There is no one perfect method for cleaning. The trick is to find the method that works for you.
For the longest time, I was paralyzed with fear of picking the wrong cleaning routine. I couldn’t clean because I thought I was doing it wrong or that I had to clean that one way for the rest of my life. But I have since learned that the best cleaning routine is to start and then tweak as you work in your place. Pick a cleaning routine or method and continue to do that for a bit. Adjust and modify as you go.

11. Use a checklist:
You can either quickly jot down what you want to accomplish during a quick cleaning session or get this FREE Cleaning Checklist. Either way, write your tasks down and cross items off your list. This helps you have a goal for what needs to be cleaned while you clean, it allows you to feel accomplished by what you were able to clean, and it reminds you of what you need to clean next time (if you didn’t get to everything on your list).
12.Focus on Progress over Perfection
When quickly cleaning, the point is to call it good enough and move on with your day. Focus on the fact that you completed a few items on your cleaning checklist. If you have done that, then you are good to go.
Quick Clean Tips Conclusion:
When it comes to quickly clean your space, the best tip you can do is to get started. Often times finding the motivation can be a challenge. However, if you stick with your routines, eventually you will no longer have to motivate yourself any longer. Cleaning will be a part of everyday life. It will be something you do without thinking. At least that has been the case for me.
